Sometimes, resistance is a community’s greatest expression of care. Resistance becomes a way to honor our collective past, protect our dignity, and insist on a future where everyone is seen and heard. In this light, protest isn’t the absence of unity but the presence of purpose. Standing with the migrants of our communities is not just an act of compassion. It’s a declaration that every journey deserves dignity and every newcomer deserves a place to belong.
When neighbors come from different places, they bring with them new perspectives, traditions, and solutions that enrich the cultural fabric of a place. Diversity isn’t a challenge to overcome. It’s a gift to build with.

What do you enjoy most about working in the public sector?
One of my favorite parts of the job is helping modernize how the City tells its stories. Many local government agencies are still relying on outdated methods and designs—often created in programs like Microsoft Word—so it’s exciting to bring a more current, polished approach to civic communication.
What has been your favorite project you have worked on?
My most recent project involved creating a visual identity for the City’s 25th Annual Model Colony Awards. It was cool to learn about the City’s history and all of the rabbit holes it led me down.

“You don’t get old, you make yourself old.” Was something one of my art teachers said to me when I told her how impressive it was that she knew current trends. All that to say, stay up on your trends, don’t age yourself as a designer.
